  1. OSU Day at the Capitol – April 20

Each legislative session, OSU faulty, students, alumni, and supporters invest a day to visit the State Capitol and show support for OSU and higher education. This year OSU Day at the Capitol is scheduled for Thursday, April 20. The day provides legislators with an opportunity to experience the significant impact OSU people and programs have on Oregonians statewide.

  1. Small Group Sessions with President Ray

In an ongoing effort to improve communication lines between the faculty and administration, the Faculty Senate Executive Committee is sponsoring two Fall term small group conversations with President Ray and faculty (academic, research and professional). These conversations will be facilitated by a Faculty Senate Executive Committee member and will consist of up to 12 faculty. This is an opportunity for the President to hear what faculty are thinking and experiencing; faculty are encouraged to speak freely. If you’d like an issue clarified, or wish to confirm a rumor, this is the place to do it!

The sessions are April 27 from 10:00-11:30 AM and May 23 from 1:00-2:30 PM. If you wish to attend, please register online at http://oregonstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1RkNjLIkiYsW765.

To participate in Faculty Senate meetings via WebEx, log in to https://oregonstate.webex.com beginning at 2:50 PM on the day of the Senate meeting, and then login with your ONID credentials to the Faculty Senate Chat Room. If you are asked for a meeting number, insert 921 759 624. If you experience problems logging in during the meeting, please contact Vickie Nunnemaker at [email protected].

A preview of the committees available to the faculty may be viewed online.

  1. 2017 Proposed PERS Legislation

This item is intended for Faculty and Staff who either currently participate in or maintain membership in the PERS retirement program (Public Employee’s Retirement System). If you participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) and do not have a PERS membership, you can disregard this email.

As you may be aware, the 2017 State of Oregon Legislative session has begun and several bills have been introduced that propose changes to the PERS retirement programs (Tier 1, Tier 2, and OPSRP). The Office of Human Resources has been receiving questions from employees as to what and/or how these bills may impact them and their retirement pension benefits. To assist you in monitoring the legislation and assessing what these bills may mean to you, Human Resources has prepared a website with various resources, links to bills, etc.  You are encouraged to conduct your own research and monitor what is happening in the legislature to determine if and/or how these bills may impact you and/or your retirement pension benefits.
