  1. Discussion of and vote to approve BCC Standing rules
  • Dana made a motion to leave the Standing Rules as they currently are; motion seconded. Approved
  • A workshop at the Cascades campus was discussed. Many of the instructors are still unfamiliar with the Baccalaureate Core and representatives from the Cascades campus agree it could be beneficial. They will discuss with other faculty when might be a good time to meet.
    • This discussion led into students who take Baccalaureate Core classes at Cascades and how they are feeling a disconnect between the courses and why they are necessary for their degree. Oregon State has a ‘playlist’ on the Baccalaureate Core website. It’s a guide for students to see what courses tie into their degree program and how it helps them on their path. It was discussed how one could be created for the Cascades campus.
  1. Student Worker on the Committee
  • How can we encourage student participation on the Baccalaureate Core Committee?
    • Due to the time commitment of the committee, it was discussed presenting the student appointment as a short internship with a course credit available. They could assist with some syllabus review (under faculty supervision) and write a short paper on what they learned during the term.
