The Faculty Senate co-hosted with Academic Affairs and the Office of Equity and Inclusion a forum for faculty who may review, evaluate, and/or provide feedback on candidates for one of this year’s Provost’s Initiative searches. Members of the Provost’s Hiring Initiative Review Committee briefed participants about the goals, expectations, and requirements of this year’s initiative, and provided an opportunity to discuss questions, concerns, and resources.
The Faculty Senate hosted a brown-bag listening session to hear concerns from professional faculty. Because these colleagues are major constituents of the Faculty Senate, the Executive Committee is interested in understanding their unique issues in order to better advocate on their behalf. For those who were unable to attend in person or via webcast, comments may be forwarded to the Faculty Senate Office.
Dave King and Lisa Templeton, from Extended Campus, and Kevin Gable, Faculty Senate President, facilitated a discussion related to Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). What are they, where are they coming from, and most importantly, how should OSU faculty respond to them? They explored many of the factors relating to how MOOCs have affected higher education and where the topic is likely to take us.
