Category II Reviews

  • ART 411, WIC
    • They are adding a Cascades location but they did not provide a syllabus for the Cascades campus.
    • They need to define what the catalog essay is – it is referenced frequently but they do not go into detail on what it is or what the assignment entails.
      • Send back requesting additional syllabus and a description of the catalog essay.
  • BI 319
    • All three major assignments assess BC LOs one and two. Should the committee expect differentiation?
      • The WIC office has no problem with this and states that this is common practice.
    • Course numbers range from 18-29 students. Is this an issue?
      • Historically, the BCC has allowed recertification of WIC courses up to 29 students in a course. 25 is or fewer is preferred, but is not a hard restriction.
      • If the course goes over 29 students, they must add a TA or make a new section.
    • The syllabus uses old verbiage ‘This course partially fulfills…’ and it is not very prominently displayed on the syllabus.
      • WIC outcomes are verbatim.
        • Approve with note to move verbatim statement so it is more prominent.
