Course Proposals
-
Discussion Needed
-
REL 372
-
Syllabus meets Baccalaureate Core (BC) requirements
-
Proposed only for Ecampus
-
The Difference, Power, and Discrimination (DPS) Learning Outcomes (LOs) are not addressed in the course content.
-
The DPD director has been working with the originator – the originator has not been listening to feedback or making the requested revisions.
-
Might be a better fit for Cultural Diversity.
-
Motion to send back for not meeting DPD requirements; seconded. Motion passed with 12 in favor, none against. 1 abstention.
-
SUS 375 – discussion follow up
-
Concerns fall into 2 categories
-
It’s in the wrong category
-
Not enough content background to change to Contemporary Global Issues (CGI) – the topics are not contemporary enough.
-
Could also be in another category but would still need revisions.
-
One committee member reminded everyone that another concern was the heavily negative comments from liaisons.
-
It is on the originator to send the liaisons a revised syllabus and invite them to comment back on the proposal. Proposals cannot otherwise be moved back to the liaison step in CIM.
-
Should this be cross-listed with Econ? They are inviting Econ professors to guest lecture, but this cannot be guaranteed to continue.
-
Some kind of agreement or MOU needs to be in place with the college to guarantee a guest lecture.
-
Can a recording be done to supply to students?
-
This could be taught as a 100 level Social Processes & Institution (SPI) course.
-
Does bringing in guest lecturers subvert the BC when that guest lecturer could already be teaching an appropriate level BC course?
-
Currently not accessible to freshman students.
-
No official documentation supporting conversations with liaisons who have reportedly decided to support the course.
-
No Discussion Needed
-
PH 107
-
Approve with comment: the Bacc Core statement should be moved to the first page so it’s more visible to students.
-
ANTH 320
-
ENGR 416
-
They have clarified how much weight the individual writing assignment is and made it clear on the syllabus.
