      • Oregon Transfer Map (OTM)

        • CTM built into new Gen Ed program
      • Statewide legislation continues to mandate transparency & transferability
        • Common Course Numbering (SB 233) aims to align most commonly transferred courses: course title, subject & number.
  • What is the student perspective? What are they looking for in transferring?
    • There is a risk of extra credits, depending on where they are transferring from.
    • Often suggested that students get an Associate’s Degree at community college to manage how many credits are being transferred in.
    • Reverse transfer is currently a difficult and drawn out process to see what credits can be transferred back to community colleges.
    • Some community colleges do not accept 300-400 level courses from colleges.
  • State legislature is currently focusing on vertical transfer, but it is best to assist students with transfer out, as well.
  • Students in a sequence class – finish the sequence course first, because they may need to start the sequence over.

Discussion of Two General Education Policies

  • Course Level vs Category
    • At what level will OSU offer courses that will transfer in and out?
      • Should classes be required to match the CTM? Meaning no 300 or 400 level courses.
        • There may be some pushback but it is in the best interest of students and transferability.
        • Writing Elevation is not part of CTM.

All courses approved in areas mapped to the CTM will be lower-division.; seconded. Motion passed with 8 votes in favor, 0 votes against and 0 votes abstaining.

      • Proposed Policy Verbiage:
        • Dual listing is generally not permitted. In some extremely rare cases, however, the committee will entertain requests for exceptions to this policy.
        • Courses will align with only one course.  Dual listing of courses may be permitted in extraordinary circumstances and must follow a special process defined in ...
        • Courses will be approved in a single area absent extraordinary circumstances.
