Transfer options within the state of Oregon is complex and students have multiple ways to transfer.

Statewide legislation continues to mandate transparency & transferability

Common Course Numbering (SB 233) aims to align most commonly transferred courses: course title, subject & number.

What is the student perspective? What are they looking for in transferring?

There is a risk of extra credits, depending on where they are transferring from.

Often suggested that students get an Associate’s Degree at community college to manage how many credits are being transferred in.

Reverse transfer is currently a difficult and drawn out process to see what credits can be transferred back to community colleges.

Some community colleges do not accept 300-400 level courses from colleges.

State legislature is currently focusing on vertical transfer, but it is best to assist students with transfer out, as well.

Students in a sequence class – finish the sequence course first, because they may need to start the sequence over.

At what level will OSU offer courses that will transfer in and out?

Should classes be required to match the CTM? Meaning no 300 or 400 level courses.

There may be some pushback but it is in the best interest of students and transferability.

Writing Elevation is not part of CTM.
Action: Lori McGraw motions to accept the following policy: Course levels in Signature areas are determined by the framework ratified by the Faculty Senate. All courses approved in areas mapped to the CTM will be lower-division.; seconded. Motion passed with 8 votes in favor, 0 votes against and 0 votes abstaining.
