Category II Proposals

  • Discussion Needed
    • HSTS417
      • There are conflicts between the questions, the tables and the syllabus making assignments, learning outcomes and how the students are assessed unclear.
      • The syllabus briefly states that students will be revising, but the scope of the revisions needs to be made more explicit.
      • The syllabus does not make it clear how students will be reaching the word count goal of 5,000 words.
        • The instructor provided a word-count chart, but it needs be to made explicit on the syllabus
      • It is not clear how informal writing ties to the critical thinking outcomes.
      • Ecampus syllabus needs no revisions.
        • Probationary recertification. The Baccalaureate Core Committee (BCC) will re-review in one year.
    • HSTS419
      • Depending on which supporting document or syllabus you check, there appears to be either three or two book review essays. Each are 700 words, which will eventually work up to 2,000
        • The WIC director clarified that the students will do two essays, and when they combine them for the final paper, add a third topic.
          • There is some concern from the reviewer that this means students are not revising 2,000 words.
          • The reviewer also stated that the inconsistencies and conflicts make it very hard to follow the syllabus and it is not clear to students what their assignments are or how they will be assessed.
          • There is also no link between the learning outcomes and assessments.
      • The syllabus is lacking the verbatim Baccalaureate Core (BC) statement.
        • Probationary recertification. The BCC will re-review in one year.
    • FR439
      • There was a new, revised syllabus submitted but the WIC director has not had a chance to review it.
        • The BCC will review this course at the next meeting.
    • PHL121
      • Statements regarding Bacc Core learning outcomes are not verbatim.
      • This course is a resubmission, other requested changes have been made.
        • Probationary recertification. A letter will be sent to the originator asking that the verbatim statement be included on all submitted syllabus.
  • No Discussion Needed
    • MUS102
