CIM Proposals

  • Environmental Management Graduate Certificate, Key #792 – New Graduate Certificate
    • It looks like a good utilization of departmental assets – zero expenses.
    • Will be taught by current OSU instructors – the courses are already offered and are just being used in the development of the new certificate.

Action: Motion to approve the proposal; seconded. The motion passes with 6 votes in favor, 0 votes against and 0 votes in abstention.

Topics for Future Meetings

  • The College of Public Health & Human Sciences (CPHHS) is going through a reorganization similar to the College of Education (COEd) reorganization. It will be discussed during the next meeting. The Associate Dean will be joining the committee to answer any questions. The dean may join, depending on their schedule.
  • Finalize Chair’s Review
  • Gen Ed faculty impacts beyond AY 2024-2025
    • Advanced Difference, Power and Oppression category
      • Faculty training programs
      • Section Size (25-35 students)
        • Alix Gitelman will give an update on Budgetary Impacts as discussed by the implementation committee.
        • The curriculum is being downsized, but the net faculty load may increase due to proposed pedagogical improvements. The true impact is difficult to ascertain at this time.
          • There will be fewer credits in the new Gen Ed Program relative to the existing Bacc Core program.
        • As examples, Advanced DPO, due to the section size requirements and the requirement to be in a major, may increase resource requirements and faculty workloads. Seeking Solutions (see Other)
        • The learning outcomes may be affected by implementation.

Report Back from University Budget Advisory Committee

  • The will be reviewing budget and fee recommendations to forward to the president. Inflation is calculated at 3.9% for incoming students, continuing students is .5%.
  • Determining tuition rates set by campus. Tuition forums will be available through March that are open for people to attend.
  • Workgroups:
    • “Charge-by-campus” – based around how OSU charges tuition.
    • Course and fee differential tuitions
    • Contribution margin analysis

Other

  • Addendum to examples of how pedagogical changes can impact net budgets. Course categories – Seeking Solutions: there are some pedagogical changes coming through. It’s similar to an existing category but there are some restrictions in this category that might increase cost.

Adjournment

  • The committee adjourned at 9:03 AM.
