Work Group Reports

• Communications Work Group (WG) met
• Conservation Efficiency Transportation WG met, notes are posted in Box
  • Focused on Forum on October 26
  • New investments on campus
• Carbon pricing WG
  • Goal is to conceptualize the impact of carbon. Converting tons to $ is helpful. Price currently used is $51\ton, which is now showing up on Board of Trustees docket. Example: Reser Stadium expansion is actually shown over a 50-year life.

• We have several vacancies in the membership. Please let Keith/Shelly know if you are aware of interested parties within these units who may wish to join our efforts.

  • Inform Vickie Nunnemaker: Extension is now Division of Extension and Engagement (so one apparent vacancy goes away.

“Path to Carbon Neutrality” Forum

• Path to Carbon Neutrality has gone all the way up to Interim President.
• Want to get feedback from OSU community
• What do we want the audience to do? Keith suggested (1) recognizing what FA and leadership have done so far and (2) convince leadership to invest more and faster.

• Green office \ green lab. 17 offices and 3 labs have done this (Shelly thought we have 120 offices). The offices and labs that have taken this step are recognized by SO.

• October 11 Co-Chair meeting with Faculty Senate president and president-elect: What would the committee want to communicate?
  • What is the Executive Committee feedback on the 9 Path to Carbon Neutrality actions?

• Proposals for Carbon Commitment Committee (C3) activities for the coming year:
  • Jason: some universities have found willing partners to change lights around the building. Ohio State has sold part of its lighting to a third party
  • Brandon: How could C3 members help? Pushing systemic change. Suggest we develop this at the next meeting.

• Brandon would like the email addresses of new members to sign them up for the SO newsletter
