  1. Category II Proposal Reviewed Separately Due to Accompanying Designator Proposal

  1. Course Designator
  2. Create an AAE Course Designator for Aerospace Engineering Courses

  1. Extensions of existing programs to Ecampus (evaluated like Category IIs)
    • Environmental Science PSM – Prem Mathew
    • French – Barbara Muraca (see reviewer comments below)
      • For both proposals there is a CAT II on its way to change the language referring to the OUS with regard to the study abroad program.
      • French Undergraduate Minor only one class, which is a requirement (FR 439), has to be developed for the program to be completed. Otherwise the existing elective courses offered on E-Campus cover the credits requirements and offer some optionality as well.
      • French Undergraduate Major there are two open issues:

3.1 The language that for the Minor includes FR 270 as an option for an upper-division French elective has to be changed in the Catalogue in order to apply also to the Major - this is currently ongoing as a CAT II proposal. Accordingly, the current version of the proposal does not (yet?) include that change for the E-campus version, although FR 270 is included in the list of E-classes for the French upper division elective courses.

3.2 Two classes (FR 340 & FR 439), both essential requirements to complete the Major, have to be developed as E-Campus classes. Moreover, the list of French electives E-campus classes already existing covers only 10 total credits (of the 21 required). The plan is to develop 8 more classes for a total of additional 14 credits. This does respond to Gary's requirement of increasing the number of classes to be delivered as online-classes (the original proposal included only 21 credits in total) and thus meets the minimum requirements for approval.

  • I remember we discussed about whether to approve a CAT I when some of the classes required for completing the total credit hours are still in the process of being developed, let alone approved. I am not sure whether this applies also to the E-Campus procedure. If not, both proposals can be approved as they are. If yes, we should consider adding the conditional that all classes have to be developed as Ecampus classes by…. (I do not remember exactly what we ultimately decided to do in the case of a conditional approval).
  • Master of Public Policy (MPP) Degree Program – Joan Gross (if ready)

  1. Art/Visual Art Action Plan
  2. Proposed addendum from Bradley Boovey to be attached to the Action Plan:

“The Curriculum Council feels that it is imperative that faculty FTE in Graphic Design be increased as the program returns to CLA. The Council advises that a search be conducted for a tenured professor (associate or higher) to replace Dr. Andrea Marks. Dr. Marks will remain in the College of Business, leaving Assistant Professor Dr. Jun Bum Shin as the only tenure-track faculty member in Graphic Design. Additionally, the Council recommends conducting a search for at least one more tenure-track faculty member to act as a liaison between Graphic Design and the other degree programs in the School of Arts and Communication. There are models for such a position in other schools in CLA (e.g., Religious Studies), and the Council feels that such a hire will be crucial to the long-term growth and success of Graphic Design and the School of Arts and Communication.”
