3.1 The language that for the Minor includes FR 270 as an option for an upper-division French elective has to be changed in the Catalogue in order to apply also to the Major - this is currently ongoing as a CAT II proposal. Accordingly, the current version of the proposal does not (yet?) include that change for the E-campus version, although FR 270 is included in the list of E-classes for the French upper division elective courses.
3.2 Two classes (FR 340 & FR 439), both essential requirements to complete the Major, have to be developed as E-Campus classes. Moreover, the list of French electives E-campus classes already existing covers only 10 total credits (of the 21 required). The plan is to develop 8 more classes for a total of additional 14 credits. This does respond to Gary's requirement of increasing the number of classes to be delivered as online-classes (the original proposal included only 21 credits in total) and thus meets the minimum requirements for approval.
“The Curriculum Council feels that it is imperative that faculty FTE in Graphic Design be increased as the program returns to CLA. The Council advises that a search be conducted for a tenured professor (associate or higher) to replace Dr. Andrea Marks. Dr. Marks will remain in the College of Business, leaving Assistant Professor Dr. Jun Bum Shin as the only tenure-track faculty member in Graphic Design. Additionally, the Council recommends conducting a search for at least one more tenure-track faculty member to act as a liaison between Graphic Design and the other degree programs in the School of Arts and Communication. There are models for such a position in other schools in CLA (e.g., Religious Studies), and the Council feels that such a hire will be crucial to the long-term growth and success of Graphic Design and the School of Arts and Communication.”
