1. Curricular Policies and Procedures – Reviewing and Updating

  • Special Topics
    • Since there was no prior approval date on the policy, Vickie inquired of Caryn Stoess in APA whether this was a new policy. Caryn’s response was: This is not a new policy, but unfortunately the origin of the text is not included in any of our records. I’ve been able to track this policy back to a 2013 archive of the APA page, but I expect it existed well before then.
      • Caryn did find a definition from the 2018-19 catalog:
        • Special Topics Courses (X99): Like reserved numbered courses, special topics courses may be repeated as specified by the academic unit responsible for the course offering. It is implied that the course content is different each time the student takes the course. In the schedule of classes, section titles are listed as "ST/" followed by the topic covered in the section.
      • Although there are no approval dates, Caryn indicated that both APA and the Office of the Registrar have reviewed this policy – turn on Track Changes to view the blue text on the attachment which indicates their

  • All materials distributed during a meeting shall be forwarded electronically to Vickie Nunnemaker prior to the meeting to ensure that remote participants also receive the materials.
