In the event a faculty member is dismissed "for cause" a panel hearing may be requested.
The OSU Policies define criteria and procedures for the imposition of sanctions for cause, including terminations of appointment (OSU Policy 580-021-0320 through 580-021-0360). If such a sanction is to be imposed, the faculty member may request a formal hearing of charges by a hearing committee to be selected from a faculty panel which has been duly established. Nominees for each new panel are randomly selected from the faculty.
