  1. COMMENTS FROM FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT SELINA HEPPELL 
  1. ACTION ITEMS
    1. Consideration of Degree Candidates 
      Rebecca Mathern, Associate Provost and University Registrar, will present the recommended lists of degree candidates for Academic Distinction, Baccalaureate Degree Candidates and Advanced Degrees. The Faculty Senate is asked to approve these candidates on behalf of the Faculty of the University. These candidates have been certified by the appropriate academic units, committees, councils and office of the registrar. Attached is the Registrar's Memorandum outlining the policies and procedures for the review and approval of degree candidates.

    Dana Sanchez and Inara Scott, Curriculum Council co-chairs, will present the below proposals for approval:

  1. Proposed Creation of Faculty Senate Committees
    • From: Ad Hoc Committee on the OSU Carbon Commitment To: Carbon Commitment Committee
    • Professional Faculty Interests Committee
  1. Professor of Teaching Task Force
    Henri Jansen and Bob Mason, Professor of Teaching Task Force Co-chairs, will request a Sense of the Senate to move forward with establishing the Professor of Teaching rank and authorize the Executive Committee to appoint workgroups to develop guidelines for the rank.
  1. OSU Presidential Search Ad Hoc Committee Recommendations
    Committee member Scott Vignos will present for approval recommendations related to the upcoming OSU President search.
  1. Student Learning Experience Discussion
    Robin Pappas, Chair of the Advancement of Teaching Committee, will present the committee’s recommendations related to the Quality Teaching framework Student Learning Experience pilot and will advance a motion to replace the electronic Student Evaluation of Teaching.
  1. SPECIAL REPORTS
    1. Pulse Survey 6.0 Results
      Kate MacTavish will present results of the recent Faculty Pulse Survey 6.0.
  1. Public Safety/Policing
    Shanon Anderson, Associate Vice President for Public Safety and Chief of Police, Dan Larson, Vice Provost for Student Affairs, and Paul Odenthal, Senior Associate Vice President for Administration will present updates regarding OSU’s Department of Public Safety. This presentation will include policies that contribute to safety, OSU’s educational values and accountability, new public safety officers being hired, and collaboration with the OSU community wellness, education and safety network.

    1. Remote Participation in Faculty Senate Meetings
      Login instructions to participate remotely in Faculty Senate meetings were in the email message containing the agenda. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Faculty Senate meetings will be via Zoom until further notice.
                The Zoom session will open at 2:50 PM on the day of the Senate meeting.
      Senators and proxies must log in with their real names so that attendance can be accurately reflected; if you are a proxy, please indicate the Senator and apportionment unit you are representing.
                If you experience problems logging in to the meeting, please contact Caitlin Calascibetta at [email protected] or Vickie Nunnemaker at [email protected].
                The preferred login method is to sign in using the Zoom App. If you are logging in using a browser, Chrome is the recommended choice. Users that cannot be authenticated through DUO will not be allowed to join the meeting.
                Non-Senators are welcome to participate but, to avoid unexpected Zoom  incidents, the login instructions are not being published. If you wish to remotely participate in this or future meetings, please fill out the linked Qualtrics survey requesting to participate – you’ll need to provide your OSU email, name and unit (please, no abbreviations). Your OSU email will be subscribed to a listserv to receive Zoom instructions as well as the agenda for future Faculty Senate meetings. If it’s the day of the Faculty Senate meeting, please send a request to Caitlin Calascibetta no later than Noon.
  1. Committee/Council Annual Reports
    Annual committee/council reports submitted by Faculty Senate chairs are due July 15 to allow committees/councils to fully report their activities through June 30.
  1. 2021 Faculty Senate Meetings
    Please reserve the following dates for Faculty Senate meetings for the remainder of 2021; all meetings are scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM: October 14, November 11 and December 9.
              As a reminder, Senators are responsible for finding a proxy to represent them when unable to attend. If Senators experience difficulty in finding a proxy, please contact Vickie Nunnemaker at [email protected] several days prior to the meeting.
  1. Vacancies – Faculty Senator or Committee/Council Member
    Please notify the Faculty Senate Office if a sabbatical, leave or retirement will prevent completion of your term as either a Senator or Faculty Senate committee/council member. If you are away more than one term, exclusive of summer term, a replacement is required. This information will assist us in identifying a replacement.
              If you are unsure when your Senator or committee/council term ends, you may check the Senator membership list or the Committees & Councils site.
