Prem Mathew, Curriculum Council co-chair, will present for approval the below curricular proposal:

Approved by Budgets & Fiscal Planning Committee and Curriculum Council.

  1. Proposed Standing Rules Revisions

Shelly Signs, Committee on Committees Chair, will present for approval proposed Standing Rules Revisions for the below committees and councils. For each committee, the link contains both a mark-up version containing the proposed additions and/or deletions and a clean version indicating how the Standing Rules would read if the proposed revisions were approved.

  1. Proposal to Revise AR 15

Nancy Barbour, Academic Regulations Committee Chair, will present for approval proposed revisions to AR 15.

B. COMMITTEE REPORT  

Proposed Faculty Senate Bylaws Revisions  

Margaret Mellinger, Bylaws & Nominations Committee, will present proposed Faculty Senate Bylaws Revisions for feedback.
     It is anticipated that these proposed revisions will be presented for approval during the June Faculty Senate meeting to allow time for Senators to discuss the revisions with their constituents.

C. SPECIAL REPORT

OSU Brand 

Melody Oldfield, Assistant Vice President for University Relations and Marketing, will share with Faculty Senators the story of the new brand and the symbolism of the new OSU logo that was unveiled on April 24.

D. INTERINSTITUTIONAL FACULTY SENATE REPORT

Dwaine Plaza, Senior OSU Interinstitutional Faculty Senator, will recap the March and April meetings.

E. INFORMATION ITEMS

1. Remote Participation in Faculty Senate Meetings

To participate in Faculty Senate meetings via WebEx, log in to https://oregonstate.webex.com beginning at 2:50 PM on the day of the Senate meeting, and then login with your ONID credentials to the Faculty Senate Chat Room. Senators and proxies must log in with their real names so that attendance can be accurately reflected; if you are a proxy, please indicate the Senator you are representing. If you are asked for a meeting number, insert 921 759 624. If you experience problems logging in during the meeting, please contact Vickie Nunnemaker at [email protected].

2. 2017 Proposed PERS Legislation

This item is intended for Faculty and Staff who either currently participate in or maintain membership in the PERS retirement program (Public Employee’s Retirement System). If you participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) and do not have a PERS membership, you can disregard this email.

As you may be aware, the 2017 State of Oregon Legislative session has begun and several bills have been introduced that propose changes to the PERS retirement programs (Tier 1, Tier 2, and OPSRP). The Office of Human Resources has been receiving questions from employees as to what and/or how these bills may impact them and their retirement pension benefits. To assist you in monitoring the legislation and assessing what these bills may mean to you, Human Resources has prepared a website with various resources, links to bills, etc.  You are encouraged to conduct your own research and monitor what is happening in the legislature to determine if and/or how these bills may impact you and/or your retirement pension benefits.
