This award is to recognize departments or interdisciplinary groups at Oregon State University that have demonstrated exceptional teamwork in creating and sustaining an exemplary teaching and learning environment to advance the University's strategic goal of student success and excellence. This award will be made annually, typically, during a catered congratulatory lunch and a plaque/certificate for each member.

Eligibility

  • Any department or interdisciplinary group that includes members from the University's eleven academic colleges: Agricultural Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering, Forestry, Public Health and Human Sciences, Liberal Arts, Science, Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine (including representation from any of these units at OSU-Cascades). Members of interdisciplinary groups can come from other OSU units, in partnership with members from the academic colleges.

Award Criteria

This award will be made to departments or interdisciplinary groups that:

  1. came together to make OSU's strategic planning goal to "provide an excellent teaching and learning environment" a reality;
  2. contributed significantly to their departments' and colleges' goals for student success;
  3. demonstrated excellence and innovation in student mentoring, teaching and curriculum development;
  4. demonstrated initiative in sharing their ideas with the broader university community;
  5. Professional Development: Pursuing professional development such as attendance or presentation at seminars and conferences, at OSU or elsewhere

Nomination Process and Submission

Following the instructions completely will ensure consideration of the nomination. 

The nominator shall submit the Cover Sheet and the complete submission packet in one PDF via the Qualtrics Submission Form. Do not begin entering information on the Qualtrics form unless you are ready to submit the nomination – the form CANNOT be saved and finished at a later time. The submission packet will include evidence that the nominee meets the criteria, as well as (1) nomination letter*; and (2) three letters of support*.

Required letters: Each of the below letters shall not exceed two single-sided pages using at least 12 pitch and 1" margins. Signatures on the letters must be included.

* Letters of Support: Two letters shall be from current or former faculty or staff. The third letter shall be from a current or former student or student group that has benefited from the team's endeavors. Letters should address how the departments or interdisciplinary groups have met the criteria.

   * Nomination Letter: The Nominator shall submit a Nomination Letter.

The award criteria must be addressed in the letters. Do not submit separate documentation related to the critera.

Additional information submitted with the nomination will not be considered; please include only requested information and refer to the guidelines when organizing submission packets.

Selection Process

Nominations will be reviewed and selected by the Faculty Recognition and Awards Committee. Committee recommendations will be made on the basis of the information submitted; the committee does not solicit additional information.

Nomination packets are due by Noon on April 19, 2024.
