    Standing Rules

    The Excellence in Teaching Committee formulates and evaluates statements of guidance that influence the teaching process and how teaching is evaluated across all modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats. The Committee's areas of responsibilities include offering recommendations and guidance related to: support for excellence in teaching, instructional faculty development and support, dissemination of teaching policies, pedagogical innovation, research related to teaching and learning, and student feedback about teaching and learning. The Committee seeks information and opinions from students, faculty, and administrators in formulating statements of policy. It presents recommendations and perspectives to the Faculty Senate to support the advancement of teaching in all modalities, including philosophical and technical issues related to the role of online and hybrid education. When requested by the Faculty Recognition and Awards Committee, the Committee may consult on teaching awards and recognition of quality teaching.

    The committee will be comprised of the following members, to the extent practicable.

    Faculty Members (5-7)

    • Teaching faculty members with a broad representation of disciplines and experiences teaching in different modalities, including at least one member with primary teaching responsibilities from Ecampus, Extension & Engagement, and on-campus.

    Student Members (2)

    • One graduate student
    • One undergraduate student
